Is this possibly the best coffee on the planet?
Hello, my name is Jamie Peros, the manager of Vicki's Coffee Corner, and Vicki's Coffee of the Month Club. My customers claim that I serve the best coffee they've ever had. You know what? They're right. My coffee is so rich, so delicious, so smooth and so imbued with deep aromatic flavor, that my customers keep coming back again and again.
"Jamie," they ask me, "where do you get your coffee? How come its not bitter? Do you have a secret brewing method?"
I have to tell you that Im flattered when I get these compliments. But the fact is that the coffee we brew at Vicki's Coffee Corner, and ship to our Vicki's Coffee of the Month Club members is so good because it is roasted in a special way to ensure the best flavors of bean are highlighted. It's the beans themselves are also special; they're Fair Trade, organic, shade grown coffee beans.
What are Fair Trade, organic, shade grown coffee beans, and what makes them better?
Glad you asked! Besides being the only kind of beans we use here at Vickis Coffee Corner, and the only kind we sell to our customers around the country who have joined Vickis Coffee of the Month Club. Lets take a look what makes them special:
Fair Trade ... These beans are grown by farmers in places like Bolivia, Mexico, Sumatra, Guatemala and other transitioning countries. Their farms are usually small (compared to the big plantations that pay subsistence wages to their workers). The farmer owns his land, carefully nurtures his plants, and makes a profit that gives his family a decent standard of living. Buying Fair Trade beans helps the money get into the hands of those who actually farm the land instead of some big corporation.
Organic ... Just as the name implies, the beans we buy are grown organically in the Rain Forest (more about that later). Being grown organically means the beans are free from dangerous pesticides and chemicals (sometimes toxic) that are used to grow big plantation beans. Isnt this the way youd like your coffee beans grown?
Shade Grown ... This is very important on a number of levels. Shade grown, means instead of cutting down the Rain Forest, the Fair Trade farmers actually make use of it, and plant their beans under the arc of the forest. The Rain Forest is cut down to produce plantation beans that are planted in full sun so they grow and mature quickly. The Rain Forest is losing 40 million acres a year to grow full-sun grown beans. Fair Trade, organic, shade grown coffee beans take longer to mature than their full-sun cousins, but they produce beans which are much more flavorful and aromatic than the plantation beans.
Better for your Body. Better for the environment. Better for the Farmers who grow them. Taste the difference!
